Setting up the mobile duty roster
Updated 29 June 2026
Not every officer can start a mobile duty — only those designated as Mobile response officers. This section explains how to grant that designation and how the rota ties into it.
The Mobile response officer toggle
Each guard has a Mobile response officer toggle on their profile, under the Capabilities section. When this is switched on, the officer will see the Start Mobile Duty button on their clock screen instead of the standard Clock In button for fixed-post shifts.
To enable it:
- Open Users and find the guard.
- Click into their profile and scroll to Capabilities.
- Switch on Mobile response officer.
- Save the profile.
Officers without this toggle enabled cannot start a mobile duty, even if Mobile Response is on for your sites. This is intentional — only officers who have been briefed and equipped for roving response work should be able to start a mobile duty.
How the rota links in
When you assign an officer a Mobile Duty shift on the rota, or schedule them for a patrol round, the system automatically enables the mobile response officer capability for that officer for the duration of that shift. You do not need to manually toggle their profile each time. Once the shift ends, they revert to standard Clock In if they do not have the toggle permanently switched on.
This means you can keep the permanent toggle off for most officers and simply schedule a Mobile Duty shift on the rota when you need them to cover mobile response — the capability is granted and revoked automatically around the shift.
Tips
- Use the permanent toggle for dedicated mobile-response officers who cover roving shifts routinely.
- Use the rota shift method for officers who occasionally cover mobile duties when your regular mobile officer is off.
- The Rota view shows a Mobile badge on shifts assigned as Mobile Duty, so it is easy to see your roving coverage at a glance.
