Compliance & Martyn's Law

Updated 13 May 2026

The Compliance tab is your hub for Martyn's Law (Protect Duty) compliance. It brings together venue risk assessments, drill records, the lockdown console, and evidence-pack generation in one place. Available to managers and senior managers with the compliance feature enabled.

Site Tier

Set the correct Martyn's Law tier for each venue:

  • Standard — venues with a capacity of 200 to 799 people
  • Enhanced — venues with a capacity of 800 or more

The tier determines which compliance obligations apply. Set this accurately — it affects the risk assessment template and the evidence pack generated for inspectors.

Responsible Person

Name the Responsible Person for each venue. This is the individual legally accountable for compliance under Martyn's Law. Their name and contact details are recorded on risk assessments and included in evidence packs.

Risk Assessment

The risk assessment is a versioned form covering four areas: monitoring and surveillance, movement control, physical safety measures, and information security. Complete each section, sign off, and set a review-due date. When a review is due, open the existing assessment and create a new version — the full version history is retained automatically.

Site Security Plan

Tap or click Generate Plan to produce a PDF site security plan for a venue. The plan aggregates your procedures, training records, drill logs, checkpoint configuration, and recent incident history into a single document suitable for internal review or inspection.

Drill Records

Log every drill you run — evacuation rehearsals, lockdown simulations, Run-Hide-Tell training sessions. For each drill, record the date, type, attendees, observations, and any corrective actions. Inspectors typically ask to see drill records dating back at least 12 months.

Lockdown Console

Initiate a live lockdown broadcast from this section. The console sends a high-priority alert to all clocked-in guards at the selected site and tracks real-time acknowledgements. See the Initiating a lockdown article for the full procedure.

Incident Log

The incident log records all lockdown events, security incidents, and drills per venue, with a full timeline for each event. Use this to evidence your response history and identify patterns across sites.

SIA Evidence Pack

Tap or click Download Evidence Pack, select a date range, and TacDesk compiles a single ZIP file containing everything an SIA inspector is likely to request: risk assessments, drill records, incident logs, the site security plan, and deployment data. Generate this before any scheduled inspection, and keep a copy on file.

Staying inspection-ready

Keep risk assessments reviewed on schedule, run and log drills regularly, and ensure the Responsible Person record is current. Martyn's Law inspectors may visit unannounced — the Compliance tab is designed to give you an always-current picture of your standing.
