Check Calls (BETA)

Updated 13 May 2026

BETA: The Check Calls tab is currently in BETA. Some behaviours may change.

A check call is a welfare check — an automated or manager-triggered request that confirms a guard is safe and on duty. The guard has 15 minutes to respond. If they don't, the system escalates and you're notified.

The Check Calls tab shows the submitted check-call log and a list of escalated (missed) check-calls from the last seven days. It requires the reports_overview permission.

Two views

Submitted log — every check-call response recorded, with:

  • Timestamp of when the check call was completed.
  • Guard name and site.
  • Status: Safe, Need assistance, or Unable to respond.

Escalated — missed check-calls from the last seven days. For each one you should investigate: reach out to the guard, check their last location, log the outcome. Dismissing an escalated item removes it from the active list but keeps it in the audit log.

How check calls work

  1. The system (or a manager) sends a push notification to the guard.
  2. The guard has 15 minutes to respond via the TacDesk app.
  3. If they respond: the check call is logged as complete with their chosen status.
  4. If they don't respond: on-call managers are alerted. The missed call is logged and appears in the Escalated view.

Requesting a check call manually

You can trigger an immediate check call directly from the Dashboard's On-Duty Board — find the guard and tap or click Request Check Call next to their name. You don't need to come to this tab to do that.

Admin-only: Notification log

Administrators can also see a notification log showing every check-call notification dispatched — useful for debugging delivery issues or confirming a notification was sent.
