Quick notes widget

Updated 13 May 2026

The Quick Notes widget on the Dashboard is a private scratch pad for jotting things down during your shift — names, vehicle registrations, times, anything you want to remember before writing your end-of-shift report.

Where to find it

Open the Dashboard tab (⚡) and scroll down past the Patrol Controls widget. The Quick Notes text field appears there.

What Quick Notes is for

Use it as a personal working memory during your shift:

  • Vehicle registrations you want to follow up on
  • Names or descriptions you need to include in a report
  • Times of incidents before you have had a chance to formally log them
  • Anything you want to paste into a report or Occurrence Book entry later

Who can see your notes?

Your Quick Notes are private and visible only to you. Management cannot see them, and they do not appear in any report or audit trail. This is intentional — they are a personal notepad, not a formal record.

Quick Notes vs the Occurrence Book

These are two different things:

  • Quick Notes — private, for your eyes only. No management visibility. Not a formal record.
  • Occurrence Book — formal shift log that management can read and that carries into handover. Use this for anything that needs to be on the official record.

A good workflow: jot something in Quick Notes the moment it happens, then copy the key details into an Occurrence Book entry or a formal report when you have a moment.

Do notes persist?

Notes are saved to your current device and session. If you log out or switch to a different device mid-shift, your notes may not carry over. Treat Quick Notes as temporary working memory — do not rely on them as a permanent record. Copy anything important into a formal report before ending your shift.
