Tour of the Guard Dashboard

The Dashboard tab is your home screen in TacDesk. Here is a top-to-bottom walkthrough of every element you will find there.

Top bar

A narrow bar runs across the very top of the hub on every tab — it does not scroll away. From left to right:

• Connection indicator — a small coloured dot. Green = online, yellow = weak signal, grey = offline. See the Connection indicator article for what to do when it is not green.
• Logo — your company logo (or site name if no logo has been set).
• Feedback button (💡) — sends anonymous feedback to TacDesk.
• Help button (?) — opens this help centre. You are here.
• Light/dark toggle (☀️ / 🌙) — switches the hub theme. The default is dark mode.

If you have manage_options access (site administrators only), a WP Admin link also appears. Guards do not see this.

Lockdown alert banner

This element only appears when management has triggered an emergency broadcast. If you see it, follow the instructions in the Responding to a lockdown alert article immediately.

Clock In / Clock Out button

The large primary button near the top of the Dashboard content area. When you are off-shift it reads Clock In; once clocked in it switches to Clock Out and shows your elapsed shift time. Tapping either triggers a GPS capture and refreshes the hub automatically — the page does not fully reload.

Active shift card

Appears directly below the clock button only when you are clocked in. Shows your site name, scheduled hours for the shift, and your assigned supervisor (if one has been set).

Call manager widget

A quick way to request a check-call or contact your manager directly. Use this rather than the Reports tab when you need to raise a call urgently.

Quick actions row

A strip of shortcut buttons for the most common tasks — filing an incident report, starting a patrol, requesting a check-call, and others depending on your company's enabled features. Each button pre-fills as much context as TacDesk knows (site, time, your name). See the Quick actions article.

Capacity tracker

Shows venue occupancy status in real time. Only visible if your company has the capacity tracker feature enabled. Tap it to update the count.

Patrol controls

Start and stop patrol tracking from here. See the Patrol mode and tracking article for full details on how patrol routes work.

Quick notes

A private text field for jotting down observations during your shift. Notes here are visible only to you — this is not the Occurrence Book. See the Quick notes widget article.

Active BOLOs

Pinned Be On the Look-Out alerts for your site. Only shown if your company has BOLOs enabled. While clocked in the list shows site-specific alerts; while clocked out it shows company-wide alerts. See the BOLO alerts article.

Recent notifications

A widget at the bottom of the Dashboard showing your last ten system notifications with timestamps. Tap any entry to open the related screen. See the Recent notifications widget article. There is no separate bell icon — this widget is where notifications live on the Dashboard.

Bottom navigation

The tab bar along the bottom of the hub is how you move between sections. The tabs present depend on your company's plan. From left to right they are: Dashboard, Reports, Site Instructions (if enabled), BOLOs (if enabled), Messages (if enabled), Memos, SOPs and Docs (if enabled), Occurrence Book (if enabled and clocked in), Shifts (if enabled), Profile, My Performance, Settings. If your screen is too narrow to show them all, a More button appears. Switching tabs does not trigger a full page reload.

What changes when you clock in

Clocking in or out fires a hub refresh automatically: the active shift card appears or disappears, the Occurrence Book tab shows or hides, the BOLO scope changes, and the Dispatcher button may appear in the top bar. You do not need to refresh the page manually.
