Quick actions
Updated 13 May 2026
The Quick Actions row on the Dashboard is a strip of shortcut buttons for the tasks you need most often. One tap gets you straight to the relevant form — no hunting through menus.
Where to find it
Open the Dashboard tab (⚡). Scroll down past the clock button and the active shift card. The Quick Actions row appears as a horizontal set of buttons, sitting above the Capacity Tracker and Patrol Controls widgets.
What the buttons do
The exact buttons shown depend on which features your company has enabled. Common ones include:
- File incident report — opens the incident report form pre-filled with your current site, date, and time.
- File patrol report — opens the patrol report form.
- Request check-call — triggers a check-call request straight away.
- Start patrol — activates patrol tracking mode.
Each shortcut pre-fills as much context as TacDesk has available (site name, current time, your name and role), so you spend less time on the form itself.
Quick Actions vs the Reports tab
Both routes end up at the same forms. Quick Actions is faster for the most common report types — one tap from the Dashboard rather than navigating to Reports, choosing a category, then choosing a type. Use the Reports tab for less frequent report types that do not appear in Quick Actions.
Why is a button greyed out?
Most Quick Actions require you to be clocked in. If a button appears greyed out or is not responding, check your clock-in status first — the large Clock In button should read Clock Out if you are on shift. If you are clocked in and a button is still unavailable, the feature may require a minimum entitlement that your company has not enabled.
