Passkeys (faster sign-in)

A passkey lets you sign in with your device's built-in security — Touch ID, Face ID or Windows Hello — instead of typing a password. It is faster and cannot be phished. Your password still works as a backup.

Where to find it

Open the Settings tab (the cog icon, ⚙️) in the bottom navigation. The Passkeys section is there, alongside your notification settings.

Adding a passkey

1. In the Passkeys section, tap Add a passkey for this device.
2. Your phone or computer prompts you for its normal unlock method — fingerprint, face, or device PIN.
3. Confirm, and the passkey is saved. It appears in your list, automatically named after the device (e.g. iPhone, Android, Windows PC).

If you see “Your device doesn't support passkeys yet”, your browser or device is too old — keep using your password, or try the native TacDesk app.

Using more than one device

You can — and should — add a passkey on each device you use. Add one on your phone for quick clock-ins, and another on your work computer. Each device is listed separately, and any of them will sign you in. There is no limit on how many you add.

Renaming or removing a passkey

Every passkey in the list has a Rename option (handy if you have two of the same phone model) and a remove option. Remove a passkey if you lose the device or stop using it — it stops working for sign-in immediately.

Signing in with a passkey

On the login screen, choose the passkey option and confirm with your fingerprint or face. No password needed. On a device without a passkey, your password still works as normal.

Using the Android app

Passkeys are not available inside the TacDesk Android app yet — sign in with your password there. Passkeys work on the website (any browser) and in the iPhone app. Android support is on the way.

Is it safe?

Yes — more so than a password. The passkey never leaves your device, nothing secret is sent to TacDesk, and it cannot be guessed or stolen in a data breach. Every passkey action is recorded in your company's audit log.
