Notifications and settings
Updated 14 May 2026
The Settings tab is where you control how TacDesk notifies you, and where you log out. It is the last tab in the bottom navigation — look for the cog icon (⚙️).
Getting to Settings
Tap the Settings tab (⚙️) in the bottom navigation. Settings is a standalone tab, not a section inside Profile.
Notification settings
In the Notifications section you can toggle which types of alert you receive and how:
- Push notifications — alerts sent directly to your phone even when the app is closed. Recommended for check-call requests, BOLO broadcasts, and anything time-sensitive. Push notifications only work through the native TacDesk app, not through a browser.
- Email notifications — sent to the email address on your account. Useful for shift summaries and non-urgent updates.
Toggle each notification type on or off using the switches. Changes save automatically. You can also set quiet hours so you are not disturbed between shifts.
Important: push notifications also need to be allowed in your phone's system settings. On iPhone, go to Settings → TacDesk → Notifications and make sure Allow Notifications is on. On Android, go to Settings → Apps → TacDesk → Notifications.
Clear cache
If the app is showing stale information (e.g. a shift that has already ended, or an old BOLO that was removed), tap Clear cache to force TacDesk to reload fresh data on the next page load.
Logout
Tap Logout to end your session. Always log out when using a shared or public device. TacDesk keeps you signed in between sessions on your personal device — this is intentional for quick access at the start of each shift.
Legal and account links
At the bottom of the Settings tab you will find links to the privacy policy, information about how location data is used, and an email address to request account deletion.
Dark / light mode
The dark/light toggle is in the top bar of the hub, not in Settings. Look for the sun or moon icon (☀️ / 🌙) near the help button on the right side. Tap it to switch. The default is dark mode. Your preference is saved automatically.
Changing your password
Password changes are currently handled through the TacDesk account area. Tap the Change password link in Settings if one is shown, or ask your manager to send you a password reset link. If you have forgotten your current password, use the Forgot password link on the login screen.
