Viewing the event map

Updated 17 June 2026

The event map is a read-only map of the venue or site you are currently working at. It shows a venue overlay (an image or floorplan placed by your control room) and the live GPS positions of you and any colleagues clocked in at the same site.

Where to find it

When you are clocked in at a site that uses Dispatcher Mode and has an event map (venue overlay) set up by your control room, a View Map button appears on the Dashboard tab, below the Add Quick Note button. Tap it to open the event map. The button is not shown when you are clocked out, when the site does not use Dispatcher Mode, or when no event map has been set up for the site.

What the map shows

  • Venue overlay — a site plan or event-floor image placed by your control room, covering the area you are working in.
  • Your position — shown as a marker labelled You.
  • Colleagues — all other guards clocked in at the same site appear as colour-coded markers. The colour reflects their current status (available, on a task, shout, and so on).
  • Position age — if a marker has not updated recently it will be flagged as potentially out of date.

Positions refresh automatically roughly every 15 seconds.

What you cannot do

The event map is view-only. You cannot move or reassign guards, send messages, or change any status from this screen. Those actions are available to managers via the separate Dispatcher dashboard.

Privacy note

While you are clocked in at a Dispatcher-enabled site, your GPS position is visible to your colleagues on the same site via their own event map, and to managers via the Dispatcher dashboard. Your position is no longer shared once you clock out.

If you do not see the View Map button

  • Check that you are clocked in — the clock-in card should show a Clock Out button.
  • The site you are clocked in at may not have Dispatcher Mode enabled. Check with your manager.
  • The site may not have an event map / venue overlay set up yet — without one there is nothing to show, so the button is hidden. Contact your manager or control room if you believe an overlay should be available.
  • The map requires location (GPS) permission to show your position accurately. If your device prompts for location access, tap Allow.

View Map vs the manager Dispatcher dashboard

The View Map button (this article) is for guards — it gives you situational awareness of the site without any management controls. The manager-only Dispatcher screen (see Dispatcher Mode — guard overview) is the full operational console your control room uses to coordinate the team.
